Gryphon Trading 450 Bushmaster Muzzle Brake Closeout

Postby Gryphon » Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:00 am

Hi All,

We exhausted our 450 barrel and upper inventory in January this year. We are getting out of the business. We have some muzzle brakes left (two types), both are 416R Stainless Steel with 11/16"x24 threads. Brakes are offered below with description and pictures.

Regards,
Dave

Retro Muzzle Brake
• Our Retro Style Brake has a Nostalgic Art Deco look similar to a famous design from the 1920s and the Thompson Sub Machine Gun and Cutts Compensator
• Machined from a solid bar of 416R Gun Barrel Steel.
• The threads of this break are 11/16"x24, which works with some 450 Bushmaster and 45 ACP AR-15 barrels, but not all. Do your research before buying!!!
• Brake has 7/8"" wrench flats at 3 and 9 O'Clock and comes with a stainless crush washer and a timing shim
• Price $60.00 Each (25% off regular price).

Vais Type Brake
• Brake Diameter is 0.875" at exit and tapers down to approximately 0.740" where it meets the barrel threads
• Brake has eight (8) offset rows of Four (4) holes per row to disperse flash and gases
• Gas exit holes in the brake are 3/16” diameter
• This brake is hand tightened on your muzzle in conjunction with an adhesive threadlocker (Blue LocTite).
• Price $40.00 Each (25% off regular price).

I must say, the Retro Style brake looks quite cool! If I didn't already have a brake matched to my barrel, I'd consider trying one.

Great to hear from Hoot and Al ! Two excellent members and a wealth of knowledge!

Hoot, yea the Retro brake was a passion of both my dad and mine. We did the best we could to scale down a custom design for our barrels.

The .750" / .740" contour barrels did not leave enough meat for the real Tommy Gun Cutt's Compensator to be installed as that uses a 3/4" thread. Way early back we did do a run of 0.875" barrels and I did get a genuine Cutt's Compensator from Auto Ordnance and put it on. I have to say it was the best brake for recoil reduction I ever shot on the 450, but at $90 a pop, it was not feasible from a cost standpoint, so we designed a scaled back version. The machine shop we contracted with to do our break was able to make them for about $50 each + material cost, so that is the story behind it all.

Sure, as soon as you tell me how you got that Cinnamon bear up on that flea market table without it collapsing! ;)
How was your syrup harvest this year? I keep my jar under lock and key. The Mrs has an incurable sweet tooth.

It's a Cosco table and they hold up pretty good actually.

Sap season was good, 63ish gallons of the amber elixir was my cut.

Sorry to hear you’re getting out of the business. But if you’re looking for a friendly state to conduct business in, Texas has a lot to offer.
