If you have a filter wrench the type that adjustable with the rubber they work great ....I put the action in a plastic jig I made to work on barrels in a vice then heat the hand guard all around near action don't need to heat a lot just about 200 degrees then just spin of hand guard off....
Heating with the action in the jig and a vice does't allow it to get very warm at all...there no chance of doing any damage with using the heat and being in a jig....
