Tagged out for 2021 ugh

Tagged out for bucks anyways.

On the 15th I was getting a itchy finger so I took my #5 on the list with the cornaflauge Scorpyd Deathstalker. Had 3 if these tall basket racks with heavy mass and said early on I would take one if the opportunity came along.

With one hanging it was all out effort to get wife one. She had a couple encounters but noting in her 40yd range. On nights she couldn't go I went out on "recon missions". Hoping not for too cold of a winter in the house, I told her up front if #3 or better came by I wasn't going to pass........ ever get that look, yeah.

On the 28th #3 comes to the radish patch 43yds out. Debated to self for 4-5 milliseconds on the consequences before letting the Katana loose.

Now after 48yrs I'm going into gun season with only doe tags, ugh.

As you get further up north here in MN, the bucks are big bodied but they have little "Easter Basket" racks. I've taken 8 pointers that would barely fit a grapefruit in them. Down in the more agricultural southern part of the state, there are some real monster racks but those pesky bow hunters get them. ;) The good news is that I'm not a trophy hunter.

Congrats!

We had a bunch of doe tags, also. But even during the “any deer” season, we didn’t end up with a single “wall worthy” hat rack. 7 deer total for 4 hunters and a freezer full of venison. My daughter-in-law shot her first two deer, and my daughter shot her first, which would have made it a successful season if just that happened!
