NY 10 vs. STAG 7 - STAG WINS

I shot this buck on Saturday November 17th (Opening day of rifle) at 9:15AM outside of White Lake NY. He was preceded by a doe and fawn(9:07AM) that came in and passed by my stand that was located in a bedding area. The doe kept checking her back trail and so did I. I caught movement about 125 yards out to the north and could see the buck sneaking it's way through the pines and mountain laurel. Eventually on his approach I could hear him grunting and shortly after I knew that he was tracking the aforementioned doe. Since the doe had passed by on the trail that I screwed up on the 12 pointer the year prior at 12 yards I figured that this might get good in a hurry. The buck bird-dogged through the thick stuff and popped out on an overgrown logging trail a mere 25 yards to the north of my stand. The cover still being too thick for a shot I let him break the distance further. He came directly in on the logging trail and finally gave me an opportunity at 12 yards with a neck shot.
I was using a STAG Model 7 - 6.8Rem SPC, with Hornady 120grn. SST bullets. The gun wears a 4.5X-14X Burris Fullfied with a BDC reticle. The buck dropped where he stood. @200lbs live weight aged at 4.5 years by tooth wear.
I took the Thumper out 10 times this past season looking for a bruin with no luck; yet during archery I had seen 5 different bears all out of effective bow range.
Still hoping to get drawn for a Maine or New Hampshire moose permit one of these years so I can let the Thumper Eat.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
