New Optics RAR

I have two 450's a Ruger Ranch and a Savage Haymaker. I have a 2x10x42 Nikon on the Savage and I'm planning on using it in my more open areas where shots will most likely be in the 100 - 150 yard range.. I want to set the Ruger up for my thicker areas where most shots would apx 50 yards and 75 would a stretch. What's he thoughts on the Vortex Cross Fire 2 , 1 x 4 x 28 ?

If you expect running shots at that closer range, perhaps a holo sight would be in order. I know from experience that I can't hit a running shot in the woods with a scope, no matter what power and I always shoot with both eyes open. You could get another 2-10 for the sake of continuity. IE what your mind's eye is used to with the Savage. Up here in the North Woods, 75 yards is almost unimaginable due to the thickness. Still, I usually used a 3-9 or 3-12, set as low as it could go for initial contact due the greater field of view. If it was worthy of greater scrutiny, a quick turn of the zoom ring solved that. That having been said, at 50-75 yards, a 1-4 is a good choice.
