Various Bullets Distance to Lands list

Postby Hoot » Tue Jan 31, 2017 11:37 am

If you have some different bullets measured, to add to the list, add to this post and I'll incorporate them into the list.

Also, it would be interesting if other owners who have some of the same bullets and an OAL gauge could check theirs and see how much variation there is in manufacturing tolerance of the chamber.

In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

you'll probably be better served getting a modified case and a hornady OAL gauge and measure your own. then you can help document the chamber to chamber variance that hoot is talking about

hoot's data might well be pretty close, but the only way to know whats going on in your barrel is to measure your barrel :)
if i were gonna even consider playing precision loading games like specific distance off lands - for any caliber - i'd for sure want to 100% know whats my gun was and not speculate based on someone else's info.

i appreciate that production was pretty limited for this caliber, but all reamers wear out in cutting, and there's enough variance in saami spec for any caliber that there could be a relatively significant variance if your chamber was cut with a worn out reamer and his was cut with a shiny new reamer. or vice versa.

Oh yeah, I'll need to measure my chamber length, for sure, for comparison...just get some idea from the chart here. I'm only planning on one, two at most, reload recepies for this...
