Here's a w16x26 beam rem that got lippy with me and thumper last summer. The big holes were the 450, the little ones .223. A 41/64 transfer punch fit the holes nicely. The 2 big dents that didn't penetrate were a 45-70 300gr lead. The beam center web is .250, the flanges are .345 in thickness. Range around 60-75 yds. The dude with me kept telling me how much more powerful his 45-70 would be. He saw the light (literally-through the beam  )after the first shot. 1/2 inch plate stopped it though. Some spitzer shaped fmj's would make a nice hole punch though. I told my boss i was gonna start using the 450 instead of our punches for baseplates, etc. he didn't think that would be osha approved in a fab shop though.

Tex, I am excited that you got that Bad-Boy up and running and are having a ton of fun with it and teaching these guys about capabilities. If you'll pump up 230gr FMJ's, they will do 1/2" plate like butter (siringo, those solids you wanna make will do 5/8"-3/4" plate, depending on the bullet weight and speed [3000fps 150gr solids would astound these guys, hint]). I refrain from doing/posting all this myself, because the nay-Sayers will just have a field day with me, saying I staged the event, but one of our Troopers doing it is quite another matter..

I've got a ton of 230 gr FMJs. I just don't have my dies yet. But after seeing what my beast will do with factory fodder, I can see now that I'm gonna need more backstop real soon. And my curiosity about the 50 Beowulf and 458 socom is permanently dead and buried. Any task that I need to do, the 450 Bushmaster has the potential.

I've been pushing the 230grn. FMJ to 2800fps with 47grns. of Lil Gun for about a year now. I've been told thats about 50K PSI. The 284 is rated at 60K PSI.
The 284 rifle has an 1-1/4" Dia. O.D. of steel around the Chamber and so does the 450 Bushmaster. I have yet to have any kind of failure, chamber, bolt, case, nothing.
I'm not qualified to say this is safe. But, I've become comfortable with it.

Well! We scrounged up a 3/8" steel plate, set up cameras and the results were not what I was expecting. The remote camera did not activate, so that point of view was a wash. The other camera captured the results. Stay tuned. :|
