True dat!

Original .284 Win cases bulge enough with .451/.452 bullets seated in them. The additional .006 would yield a loaded cartridge that would be reverse tapered.

FWIW, reaming cut down .284 cases would eliminate the bulge but that's a lot of precise touch labor. Probably not a bad choice back when 450b specific cases were hard to come by but now they flow like water. ;)

I'd bet Tim considered it when he was in the design phase. Maybe it was discussed back on the calguns forum, which if you didn't already know, was where the early 450b design was first discussed before creating a dedicated 450b forum.

The 284 Winchester IS the true parent cartridge of the
Current day 450 Bushmaster cartridge.

Thanks for the answer. Sooo, the new 450 brass is thinner at the case mouth, by how much....? I may have to measure mine and do some figuring.
