FWIW, reaming cut down .284 cases would eliminate the bulge but that's a lot of precise touch labor. Probably not a bad choice back when 450b specific cases were hard to come by but now they flow like water.
I'd bet Tim considered it when he was in the design phase. Maybe it was discussed back on the calguns forum, which if you didn't already know, was where the early 450b design was first discussed before creating a dedicated 450b forum.
