AR barrels

Postby sevt_chevelle » Mon Sep 09, 2019 4:25 pm

Anyone have an opinion on Columbia river barrels?

Am wanting a 18" middy in the bull profile, 936 gas block. Satarn made this barrel profile for Brownells but just recently dropped the bull profile, can only get the 875 gas block.

Columbia river can build this barrel but in a 1-18 twist rate, is this kinda of too fast for the bushmaster using bullets in 240-250 range?

Thanks...Eric

BHW barrels are good to go. I have a 20” rifle gas and 12.5” carbine gas from them. I don’t have much trigger time with them, but I did load some 225 FTX in both without issue. I personally went with semi-bull profile on the 20” and really like it. The 12.5” I went with bull because they don’t offer semi-bull in that length. A bull 18” is going to be pretty heavy, but if that’s what you want, go for it. Also, I say go for a midlength gas.

I have a feeling that the BHW’s will be able to get the most speed from handloads because of the 3 groove poly rifling, but have not been able to test it yet.
