BCA barrels?

Postby s4s4u » Sat May 16, 2020 12:56 pm

Are BCA 450B barrels good to go? Seems like a significant price drop from the big names and in my experience that usually means something.

TIA, Rod.

I know a couple guys who got their 450 uppers on the last sale for I think $240ish ?? They shoot factory Hornady 1-1/2" which is about all those two are capable of doing with anything on their best days

One other guy i know has a 6.5G that's a shooter and I'm slowly putting together a 16" 308 upper with one of their barrels. Should be ready to roll in a couple weeks.

ive got one of their 6.5 grendel 5R barrels that seems to be a shooter. haven't had the chance to do full load workups yet as the winter and then this quarantine nonsense locked me out so far.

my buddy has a 450 upper of theirs that shoots dirty cloverleafs with 250 ftx ammo @ 100, and my cousin has one thats waiting to go in testing he got for x-mas from his wife.

i wouldnt think twice about picking another up, and while you do risk gettin a lemon (they're known for less than stellar QC sometimes... but you ARE bargin bin shopping) they do stand behind their warranty and their barrels comes with a MOA guarantee.

I've got an 18" BCA barrel on the rifle I built from scratch.

Very accurate. With the 225 FTXs, I can easily get an inch at 100 yds, with a dot sight.

I load mine at the high end of the scale.

I’ve got builds using 16” and 18” BCA 450 barrels, and they’re both nail drivers. Hornady 250 FTX factory loads, and my 225 FTX hand loads shoot 1” groups if I do my part.

I have one that I traded my second Grendel upper in on. It shoots pretty good, much better than the Grendel did actually. i haven't shot it a whole lot, but Im seeing 2" groups at 100 yds with no real load development. I just threw together some hunting load charges from my bolt gun and the BCA shot them pretty good. Their not known for their quality, but I've heard more good things about their 450 uppers than bad. Two years ago, i got my first 6.5 Grendel upper from them and it was junk. Sent it back for an exchange and the second one wouldn't shoot for nothing. Traded it in for my 450 upper and im satisfied for the time being. I got one of the side charging uppers and the charging knob staying tight is a problem. You cant locktite it in either because it has to be removable for disassembly. Called BCA and they sent out a new one with a new screw. Their Customer service is on point, I'll give them that.

I have read that teflon tape on the threads of the setscrew will help it stay put. Or perhaps a small o-ring placed around the stud of the knob.
