I would like to say hello to all on the forum I have read quiet a bit about unburned powder from different issues reloading , but I haven't got to reloading yet just been shooting Federal 450 Bushmaster 300gr power shok. After shooting just a few rounds there is a lot of what looks like unburned powder residue inside barrel. Has anyone else had this issue or do I have a problem?
I am shooting my on build it's 20 inch factory bushmaster barrel, AR style rifle.

I assure you, it is burned. If you scrape it up and put a match to it, it's not gonna flare up. It is just residue, some leave more than others.

VV N110 pushing 200gr FTX bullets left residue not only in my bore but downrange in my optical chrony.

welcome aboard.

pretty normal to have residual powder left in the bore with factory or handloads. I see it in all my straightwall rifles.

I haven't tried scraping any out and seeing if it would burn. I was just going by appearance in barrel looks like flakes.

If you think there is a lot of it left in your barrel, spread a white bedsheet out in front of your bench when you shoot....

Ok thanks guys I appreciate all advice . I had never shot an large bore straight wall guns before never realized they would have so much residue in barrel so quick after 8-10 shots. I was just worried more that could cause gas system issues fairly quick.

I've had a lot of different factory ammo in various chamberings shoot dirty, especially 9mm. When you handload you can control some of that with powder choice. I don't buy ammo unless I have no alternative.
