I've read on here in a few threads about the "lead brick" that is mounted inside the buttstock in order to tame recoil to a degree. What is this "brick" and where does one obtain one?

Brownells sells a buttstock weight that is made to drop into the trapdoor of an A2 stock:

Also take a look at what one of our members came up with .. Gunnut's Recoil Management Stock

If you do put the lead stock weight in your .450B you will need to add a cross bolt. Without one the lead weight beats the the foam core of the stock in until it binds the buffer tube, bringing things to a halt. the weight is well worth the effort for load work up off the bench.

I had tried the weight in the buttstock route to attempt to reduce what recoil there is from the 450, but found far better results from a new muzzle compensator and a MGI rate reducer with a ACE skeleton stock with the 1" rubber buttpad. In the prone position the crosshairs NEVER come off the target.

I hunt with mine, so rather than weight it down, I put on a limbsaver recoil pad, and it's like a kitten now.

Same here - $20 from walmart and the kick is hardly noticeable..
