New Left Hand Mauser 98 450 Bushmaster Rifle

Postby FSJeeper » Fri Nov 11, 2022 9:28 pm

Zastava Left Hand Mauser 98 action, Rhineland 16" 450 Bushmaster barrel, Boyd Stock, and Weaver Super Slam Euro illuminated 1x6 scope in QD rings.

I am going to add iron sights, cut 2" off the front of the stock, add a 1" thick recoil pad to make the stock length correct for me.

How well does that long action (looking) feed the rounds?

In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

Hoot, for whatever reason, the newer commercial Zastava, not older Interarms, long action bottom metal and follower feed the 450 Bushmaster well. Zero issues. The feeding is also much more positive with the 2.6" COL loads I use with the Bear Creek Ballistics 240 HV bullets.

Opposite experience than with the other Mausers I have tried. On other bottom metal like various military ones, and the military followers, I have had feeding issues and ended up using a detachable magazine.
