my choice would be to find a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 and load it with Buffalo Bore or Garrett ammo.

That’s the way I was leaning too. I think that gun is in my future.

But the deeper I dig, the more excited I become about the RAR in 450b. The performance of that class of bullet in the brush video above tells me that it’s got the same basic DNA as the 45-70. And the faster muzzle velocity / flatter trajectory out to 200 yards makes me think it would be a great “if you could only have one gun” option. Lastly, the sub-MOA accuracy some folks are seeing with this gun fresh outta the box, all for for almost a third of the price of a Marlin 1894….

And some of my 230 Gr FMJ experiments, I was running a TKO of 36.

I have both 450 and 45/70. The 450 upper is a Bear creek and the 45/70 is a CVA single. I get nowhere near the accuracy with the 45/70 as I do the 450 using factory hornady ftx’s . Just my $.02

if you wanted a "factory" offering that are bear (large game) tenderizers....

mag full of those in an AR platform is a whole lot of hurt. 2779 ft/lbs at 2260fps at the muzzle.

This piece has some nice tables comparing the 450BM to 45-70 and other big bore rounds. The 450 sure shines in ballistics and susceptibility to wind.
