IMR 4227 in faster twist barrels

Postby PRKL8R » Mon Nov 16, 2020 8:35 pm

Been rethinking IMR 4227 powder for reloading the 450. Lyman listed 4227 as a go to powder in their AR reloading manual as well as Lil'gun. But velocities and accuracy were never as good as Lil'gun in my AR 16" one in 24 twist Bushmaster. I've been wondering if IMR 4227 may be benifical in the 1 in 16" twist of the Ruger GSS .I've still got some old 4227 and am going to do a couple of ladders for the GSS bolt . Have three bullets to try 245gr Hornady interlocks,250 Hornady FTX monoliths, and 275 Barnes TSX. Have any of you tried IMR4227 in your faster twist barrels? What results? Any problems?

I'll have to check my bullet weight data but, no problems in my Rhineland 16" barrel with 16" twist.
