Folks,

Here is real world info on the 250 xtp I have used them in a savage smokeless ML since 2001. I have 2 different loads
One is at 2260 fps AA5744 the other over 2350 fps. VV N110.
I think 250xtp is tougher than Hornady gives them credit for. I have killed a pile of deer with that load, most were broadside double lung some were high shoulder all were pass thru

Used the 300gr version in my Savage, killed plenty of deer with it too.

To dig up an older thread ; a gent I know well- sold the ultimate muzzle loader to Remington a few years ago and went on to make the real ultimate muzzle loader - anyhow velocities around 26-2700 FPS and guess what he uses? Now there is some articulable evidence that the sabot does indeed lessen stain on the projectiles working far outside their performance environment but results he and his customers are getting speak for themselves .
I’ve went with the mag version for my bushmasters but I can’t see the regular xtps breaking up anymore than our tried and true FTX . Would I use either on my up coming elk hunt? Nope but deer are not hard to kill, the real trouble is convincing them they are dead.
