220gr Lehigh XD loads

Postby Gavin-Vernal1234 » Mon Dec 13, 2021 8:45 pm

I have a few boxes of the Lehigh 220gr 0.452 diameter Xtreme Defender solid copper bullets. I was hoping someone has loaded these and tried them out. Any input would be apreciated.
I have an Ar style 450BM, starline brass and CCI 450 primers and Lil Gun or Hodgdon H110 powder.
Lehighs website suggests 33 to 41 grains of H110, but nothing on Lil Gun.

A little less than 3 years ago, I reviewed the 245gr Brass XP bullets in this Thread.

They were exceptional with Lil Gun and W296, which is very close to H110. I'm guessing that they are a little slipperier than the copper ones but you should be able to go with similar charges. I have a box of the copper ones as well, but never got around to reviewing them since the brass ones were better than anticipated. Once we emerge from the throws of winter, say around April, I can revisit the copper ones.

Wow!
I think that I saved one for my bullet example drawer. Gonna measure it to see if the problem you had was a one off or if they are all that way.
