Bear Creek Ballistics 240HV loading experience

I tried numerous loads using Lil Gun and H110 with the Bear Creek Ballistics 240 HV bullets for the 450 Bushmaster.

H110 clearly is the best powder and 44 grains of H110 produce sub MOA groups with consistency in several different rifles.

I'm done. This is my go-to load.

2 Mauser 98's and 2 Savage 99's re-barreled to 450 Bushmaster. Not recommending this COL, but what works for me, especially for feeding in the Savage 99's, is exactly 2.6" which puts the crimp right at the top of the cannalure.

Starline brass, Remington 7 1/2 primers. BCB 240 grain HV Bullets for the 450 Bushmaster.

I am very comfortable taking shots out to 250 yards with this load. The 450 Bushmaster has become my all-around go-to hunting cartridge and it will take care of 75% of my hunting.

I played with that bullet in my Savage 45 Raptor a little and accuracy was so-so just under 2".

Putting a bigger effort into the Ruger #1 450 this year and will give them another whirl.

I lust after those Ruger Number 1's in 450 Bushmaster!

Good luck finding the perfect load for that rifle.

this one is from the first run of stainless with a 10 twist barrel, has shot everything great and if I had to pick a load today, it'd be the 275gr Barnes and a overbook dose of 300MP. Could use a trigger job and some more glass one of these days.

I have been back out 3 more times.

44 grains of H110 and the Bear Creek 240 HV bullet is a consistent one ragged hole group round at 100 yards.

I could not get lil gun to perform as well with the bear creek bullets

But with my old loading that I got from here, 38 grains of lil gun with the 250 FTX bullet, it also does one ragged hole, perhaps a little larger but for hunting another winner. I tried other loads of lil gun and 38 grains is the most consistent between different rifles.

The point of impact for these loads is almost identical and for hunting purposes, you could hole it same POI.

I had a 250 grain FTX come apart on me with one deer and it did not exit. The deer was DRT, didn't move, but once is enough for me for bullet failure. That is why I switched to the 240 HV BC bullet.

I'll know in a week or two how it performs on deer and hog, but it has a good reputation of staying together and exiting the deer for a good blood trail.
