Just a quick update on this bullets performance on deer. Three deer so far this season. I have never been so impressed with a bullets performance and I have worked with a lot of different bullets. Much less meat damage versus the FTX. Super accurate. I shot a doe at about 200 yards this morning, dead right there. This is a viable option for a hunting bullet.

I tried these bullets today and am very impressed. I bought both the AR and the HV. Both produced the best groups shot out of either guns. The AR turned out to be the best group I’ve ever shot! Very impressed with these.

Cutright, can you share your recipe for the 240AR rounds?? Will be using in a bolt gun. The 240HV bullets will not fit in my Ruger M77 Hawkeye. There is a big difference in their max load data between the two bullets and I was just curious what your experience was and what worked best for you?? What type of gun were you using??

Cutright, can you share your recipe for the 240gr AR bullet. The Bear Creek load data varies quite a bit between that bullet and the 240gr HV bullet. I’m loading it for my Ruger M77 Hawkeye bolt gun as the 240gr HV will not fit in the internal magazine and I have to use the AR bullet. Thanks, Dale

Outstanding!

I have shot several 3 shot groups with a just one ragged hole with the HV240's.

My experience also in 50+ years of shooting is best groups ever.

What is even more impressive is the bullet performance which is night and day difference to the FTX.

I agree totally! The load I usually use is the standard 37gr LilGun.

This load was much hotter than that and I worked slowly with 250gr bullets to get up to 43gr without pressure signs. I don’t think I’m burning all the powder with a 16” barrel and carbine length gas. Also the speed isn’t much different than when I was at 39 gr however I can’t argue with the accuracy.

One thing to remember LilGun powder you compress it you will not get any gain in velocity at a point but a loss....in several different calibers with LilGun I have experienced once you start to compress velocities will not go up add more they tend to go down....those bolt guns were running in excess of 70'000 psi on test guns when velocities started to go down....
Basically you are just wasting powder and also beating up your gun....also with a AR-15 loading "HOT" a few shots you will not be paying the "REAPER" give it a regular diet and your going to pay its just when....with the large case head of the 450 BM primers should look like a 38 Special "Target" load not like a 5.56 shot in the same gun....
Remember the action on a AR-15 is made of aluminum with a bolt made of steel you start to get "HOT" loads the aluminum is going to be stressed easer than the steel bolt....also the bolt head is much thinner holding the rim of the brass less steel than a 5.56 so it is much easer to brake....I've seen several where only the barrel and the bolt minus the bolt head were salvable they were locked up tight like they were welded....

Respect the maximum pressure 38'000 psi assigned to AR-15 and you will not have any problems or hurt yourself or any one around you push it could cause a very serious injury or even death....you want to push and see what the 450 BM can do get a bolt gun and have at it should have no problem getting to 60'000 psi....

Thanks for the information and I will take your knowledge and lower my load back down to the 37gr. It was the accuracy I was looking for, not the velocity, and definitely not the pressure! Thanks again
