Look what I made tonight.

I got bored ans attempted to build a .452 bullet.

I used my Lee .451 sizing die to size down a 45acp case. I then filled it with molten lead. Next I used a 260 Remington Seating die to form the nose. After that I used my Lee 45acp seating die to finish closing the nose up. The result came out at 344.1 grains and looks like this.

I've been watching every swage video I can find LOL. I am also interested to see how it will shoot! I'm going to make 4 more of them and load them up. What I need now is a core mold so I can get the same weights each time. If these work it's going to save me a few hundred bucks on dies!!

5 for test firing. They are within 3 grains of eachother. I need to find a core mold so I can get the weights closer. Overall not too bad for the lowtech method I used.

Very Cool!

I wonder, is brass softer than a copper jacket?

If so, will it foul the rifling faster?

I think the brass is actually a bit harder than copper. Here they are loaded up and a Boat tail I made by trimming the rim off a case. The BT weighs 307 grains.

You can leave them in or take them out. I have done it both ways.

How about a Ballistic tip version?
