Bullets never hit paper at 100 yards. Two problems: First, sabot petals flower immeadately after bore exit. They contact the flash suppressor/brake and disturb bullet flight. This would not happen w/o the flash suppressor/muzzle brake. Second, when the rear of the sabot passed over the gas port, the gas pressure blew a perfect 1/2 moon divot in the skirt.
IMO a usable sabot would have a metal gas check on the base that is longer in length than the gas hole diameter. It would be an interesting project to be able to shoot 35 caliber bullets, 375's. 40's. ect. However, it is doubtful that the pressures would be high enough to function the AR action. The muzzloader smokeless crowd is running some pretty big charges of smokeless. I have seen up to 60 grains of Little Gun on posts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mad Mud Bugger doesn' jump all over that one..
And BTW-II, have you caught up on all the reading at Calguns, where we all here contributed to, before the MB got us squared away?
