Working up my first load

I’m hung up on my bullet choice. Maybe newbie mistake of buying two bags. I’m using reloading data from Hodgon. I have 3 450 BM and really hunt with 2. 1 is a Encore with a 24” barrel (1:16) and a Mauser I built from a Turkish receiver. This one has a 18” barre (1:16). These are meat sticks for me, mainly Michigan whitetail.

Here’s the part I’m having buyers remorse on. I picked up .452 dia copper solid hollow points in 225 gr via Magtech. . I’m really worried about losing a deer due to bullet construction. I’ve had it happen and it’s the worst feeling in the world. Part of me wants to just pony up and get something like Barnes TSX and the other half says try it out to practice reloading. My first time doing it too.

Well, I would say load them. That way you can get a grasp on reloading. Then do a gel or water test on the bullet and see how it holds up. You could even use meat, maybe with a good size bone, and see they perform. If you are satisfied with the results, run em. If not, then switch to something else, there's a lot of choices. Plus, you gained the experience of reloading.
