First time loading this round.Has anyone used vectan powder to load the 450 BM ? I use vectan Ba9 and Ba9 1/2 to load 9mm, 45acp and 45 long colt with great success. I can find no loading data on loading the 450 BM with this brand.I plan on using 230 grn jhp bullets. I only ask because I have a ton of this powder and would like to use it instead of buying new . Thanks guys

Yeah, looking at that table at Grafs, Vectan 6.5 looks like a much better match for the 450b.

very generally speaking - this caliber uses "magnum pistol" typical powders... h110/w296, 4227, lil gun, 1680, Shooters world Blackout, Shooters world Socom, etc... so any powder typically used for 9mm, 40, 45 type ammo isnt going to work very well for us. they're simply going to be too fast of a burn rate for the case capacity and design of the 450bm cartridge. just like standard rifle powders (varget, 4895, win 748, cfe223 etc etc etc etc) are going to be too slow.


so if you're looking for potential crossover powders from the non-typical brands used/offered here in the USA thats the type/class of powder you need to start looking at within a certain manufacturer.

I am happy to use the Baschieri & Pellagri BP03, it looks a lot like the W296, getting the same speeds as the W296 with less grain.
The only problem with the ball powder is that they are difficult to ignite with the small rifle primers, soon I will try the magnum version.
