Jan 3rd sow

Postby Robert FL » Sun Jan 03, 2021 9:21 pm

Got a nice fat sow today, about 60 yards quartered away. The 250 grain Hornady SST passed thru coming out the neck on opposite side dropping her right there... Lots of white fat on this unbred sow. I wanted to try Winchester 250 grain Deer Season bullets but did not have time to shoot any before this hunt so I went with the proven Hornadys.. I think the winchesters will shoot well in my rifle but you never know till you put some down range.

nice going.

there are times I wish we had hogs up here, just to do some off season blasting and bullet testing.

The wild hogs are a blessing and a curse... They really mess up deer hunting at times, but provide meat for us all year. Our 3000 acre hunt club is planted pines and wetlands, no fence or open fields. Its very thick and the hogs are hard to see and kill.

i go thru the same thing.... i'd love to have them as a good animal to go after... but then i think of the damage they do to agriculture and how important that is to our state and go.. nah.. they can keep em down south.

then a few months later i see a post and think "yum free range bacon!" and the whole process starts over
